Why did we design this?  Since we are also in the clothes business, we just got tired of skirt makers that were around but never seemed friendly to us.  We did not try them all I am sure, but the ones we did try asked you to figure out everything BEFORE you made the skirt with few adjustments lately - including skirt piece width and all flexi parameters.  Since we do a lot of script writing, we learned a few things along the way. We learned that with the right good software that some items such as flexi could be done AFTER the skirt is made, making adjustments less traumatic.  We also learned some three dimensional geometry that is quite useful in all of this, especially when trying to have the software figure out the right distances for the user, and not have the user doing complex math or trial and error.  So, we added an automatic feature to determine best distances for you - if you choose to use it.  We ALWAYS choose to use it.  :)

So, what this is appears to be a tiny cylinder with two large software programs inside that are both menu driven.  It will seem to act like one software program since that is planned out that they communicate with each other, but the software was so huge we had to work at it constantly to keep to just two software programs.  Also included in that cylinder are 30 starting samples, giving 10 lengths each of cylinders, boxes and prisms - the three types of objects that Second Life allows to be flexible.  This means you usually do not even need to make a sample.  Just use one of the ones there.  And of course the cylinder with the software programs can be copied to ensure you can use the software programs again and again.

6 notecards are included where we did not hold back on telling many secrets of flexi design.  The easiest notecard tells you how to get started quickly and make a flexi skirt in less than 10 minutes (faster when you get used to it).  But there is another notecard that takes it slower and tries to explain options along the way.  Then there is a "fashion" notecard that gives ideas on how to do a pleated skirt, or mini or micro skirts, grass skirts, princess skirts, high attach skirts, and even a type of skirt we call the Asian Dragon Lady.  We also tell how to do combined skirts such as petticoats and have them look even higher volume of skirt without using a million prims.  In addition to those notecards, we also include a troubleshooting notecard.  While cautions are given along the way, we know that some days you might have an issue and you might want to just look at one notecard and not 6.  So even if it meant being repetitive, we tried to put common issues in the troubleshooting guide.  And one notecard is for the store owners who might not only want to sell these flexi skirts, but also to have the skirts look like they made it all themselves and not us at Owl and Pussycat OnP.  Well, we also tell how to change the items around to mostly have it say it all is your stuff. After all, all we are trying to protect here is the custom software we worked so hard at.  The skirts you make should be yours.

We also include some starting textures to get you going.  We include for example 24 slip textures that give you 6 possible different slip lengths for under the skirt as well as transparency options, as well as options for the top portion of the slip to have straps or be strapless.  What you can do with these if you wish is to make a slip for underneath the clothes such that the flexi skirt just matches into it.  We like the slip idea since on top, it simply can blend with the flexi skirt (if the same color) but on the bottom under the flexi skirt one sees the lace bottoms and also thinks of it as a very separate piece of clothing.  In addition we give some other textures for skirts and petticoats and lace and more.

Oddities of the Skirt Maker

The number of pieces for a flexi skirt has to be a number divisible by 4 using this skirtmaker.  We found that gave best results and software programmed it that way.  So then the skirt must be something like 24 pieces (total prims = 25) which we suggest as a good standard.  But the skirt would need to be a multiple of 4 skirt pieces such as:  4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, .......80........100 ... and so on.  We ourselves did not find this restrictive for what we do.

The other oddity is really an SL oddity.  When SL combines skirt pieces it adds at least a second delay to each piece.  So then, it can take let us say 70 seconds total to make a 24 piece skirt with all of the other delays also.  Now, we found that a good time to refill our coffee.  In general it also was not so difficult for us since much of the skirt including all flexi adjustments and some sizing can be done AFTER the skirt is made.  Therefore consider that you can make one skirt, copy it when done, change some flexi items or some sizing, and then use it for multiple needs.  We do that a lot.  The photo below of three different center openings for a skirt were done really by just copying the same skirt - and then modifying each a little bit after copying them.
